Dear Mr. MacDonald:

Please find enclosed a copy of our current Radioactive Materials license and also a copy of a letter sent to us by Amersham Tech-Ops.

Due to the fact that we do not transport Radioactive Materials out of the state of California we are not required to apply for the OA program.

~ ~ ~ -

However, if in the future we are required to do out of state transporting we will submit the proper fees and programs to the NRC.

We apologize for any inconvience this may have caused you.

Sincerely,

Dear.Mr. Ordorica:

Our salesman ~, Fred Melman, asked me to give you some assistance with a QA Program for shipping radioactive materials. Under NRC regulations you are issued a general license to ship radioactive material if you meet certatin requirements. One of these is that'you have an NRC approved Quality Assurance Program for transport packages of radioactive materials. I have included a sample program that you can incorporate into'your procedures, and submit 'to the NRC. If you only.intendf.to transport radioactive material packages'withis the.stete of California, you are not' required to; apply; for; this QA Program.' If you perform radiography in an NRC state and subsequently need to_ transport the package in that state, you will be required to have a QA Program approval. When you apply for approval of the enclosed QA Program, you must also enclose an application fee of S150.00 to the NRC. I hope this answers.any questions you may have. If I can provide any additional in-formation, please contact Fred Melman or me. Sincerely, Ca k ~ kup w Cathleen M. Roughar Radiation Safety Officer 'CMR:aep l ' Enclosure i Amersham
