Reference:
My memorandum of 8 June 1987, same subject 1.
Referenced memorandum is hereby amended and should be destroyed.
2.
It was verbally approved by W. Kushner of NRC, Region 1 on June 8,1987, that effective that date, all references in subject Plan to specific brand names and/or model numbers of items of security equipment, are no longer necessary.
3.
As authorized by Mr. Kushner, an immediate Plan change is not required to correct all entries where a specific brand name and/or model number is shown.
In the future, when a plan change is submitted which happens to be on a Plan page which also includes reference to a specific equipment brand name or model number, brand names and/or model numbers will not be included unless such is absolutely necessary and then the phrase, "...or equal," shall be inserted after the brand name/model number to reflect that substitutions are allowed.
