NRC REGION II REPRESENTATIVE TO THE REGIONAL INTERAGENCY STEERING COMMITTEE (RISC) FOR EARTHQUAKES This is in response to your letter dated December 8, 1987, requesting designation of a representative to serve on the RISC.
Douglas M.
- Collins, Chief of the Emergency Preparedness and Radiological Protection Branch in NRC Region II has been the designated representative to this group.
He will be attending the January 12, 1988 meeting.
As you are aware, the NRC and power reactor licensees have already implemented emergency plans and procedures to deal with a spectrum of emergencies, including those caused by natural disasters, such as earthquitkes. We look forward to working with the Federal community to develop the supplemental interagency planning to implement the Comprehensive Plan for Federal Response to a Catastrophic Earthquake.
