Dear Mr. Murley:
Reference (a) transmitted a Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) Guidance Memorandum (GM) MS-1, " Medical' Services", that addresses implementation of the commission Policy on Offsite Medical Services published on September 17, 1986 in the Federal Register (51 ER 32904) Reference (b) requested that Commonwealth Edsion provide a brief report on the status of arrangements for medical services in the'offsite plans for Braidwood Station.
Reference (c) established the schedule for Braidwood Station when offsite plans will need to reflect the provisions of MS-1.
The purpose of this letter is to respond'to this matter.
Braidwood Unit 1 is expected to have a full power operating' license prior to August 13, 198"J.
The appropriate offsite emergency response plans for Braidwood Station.will be revised at the next annual update following.
August 13th to reflect'the provisions of FEMA Guidance Memorandum MS-l'.
Area hospitals and ambulance services around Braidwood Station have already established the necessary technical capability to. provide medical support and-transport services for contaminated, injured members of the general public.

l Discussions have been held between the commonwealth Edison company and the State of Illincs on the logistics and other administrative details involved with the inclusion of the MS-1 related information into the offsite emergency response plans for Braidwood Station. The State of Illinois has

l tentatively projected a late 1987 or early 1988 time frame for Braidwood Station for the next annual update of the offsite emergency response plan.
Based upon the information currently available to commonwealth Edison, we expect that the offsite emergency response plans for Braidwood Station will be in compliance with the provisions of MS-1 at the time of the next annual j
update.
