FINAL SAFETY EVALUATION REPORT FOR THE NUSCALE STANDARD PLANT DESIGN
Dear Mr. Rad:
This letter is to inform you that the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) staff has completed the final safety evaluation report (FSER) for the standard plant design application submitted by NuScale Power, LLC (NuScale), by letter dated December 31, 2016. The staff has determined that the plant design meets the applicable requirements for the design certification stage of licensing.
The staff will place the FSER in the NRCs public document room and will make it publicly available in the NRCs Agencywide Documents Access and Management System (Accession No. ML20023A318) consistent with the proprietary and factual error verification you completed in July 2020. The staff will submit the FSER to the Commission in preparation for rulemaking.
The NRC staffs issuance of this FSER does not constitute a commitment to issue the design certification or in any way affect the authority of the Commission in any rulemaking proceeding pursuant to Subpart H, Rulemaking, of Title 10 of the Code of Federal Regulations (10 CFR)
Part 2, Agency Rules of Practice and Procedure, and Subpart B, Standard Design Certifications, of 10 CFR Part 52, Licenses, certifications, and approvals for nuclear power plants.
