This submittal is provided to document Waterford 3's status of implementation of NRC Generic Letter 96.-01, entitled " Testing of Safety-Related Logic Circuits."

Generic Letter 96-01, issued on January 10,1996, requested that iNaterford 3 take the following actions:

1. Compare electrical schematic drawings and logic diagrams for the reactor protection system, EDG load shedding and sequencing, and actuation logic for the engineered safety features systems against plant surveillance test procedures to ensure that all portions of the logic circuitry, including the parallel logic, interlocks, bypasses and inhibit circuits, are adequately covered in the surveillance procedures to fulfill the Technical Specification requirements. This review had to include relay contacts, control switches, and other relevant electrical components within these systems, utilized in the logic circuits performing a safety function.

2. Modify the surveillance procedures as necessary to complete testing to comply with the Technical Specifications, bS*q '

- (July 29 1997).- The above described circuit diagrams and procedures have been reviewed and compared as requested. Appropriate testing was performed where applicable during Refuel 8 using updated surveillance tast procedures or special test procedures / work authorizatien packsges. Future testing of the applicable logic circuit components will be performed via approved permanent plant procedures, special test procedures or. maintenance _ test procedures.

The inadequate surveillance testing identified during the Generic Letter 96-01 review:

- effort was reported to the NRC via LER 97-014-00 (W3F1-97-0090) dated May 8,1997.

= As stated in Rev. O, Waterford 3 committed to providing a revision if any further testing inadequacies were identified during the Refuel 8 outage. Revision 01 of LER 97-014 is currently being submitted to the NRC under a separate cover letter (W3F1-97-0208) for

that purpose.
