A cu n ne w c m u w ogaxxnot w wraa Kmmaham 10:0g g y w hant Geawat htmay Owbx At49720 August 25, 1997 Nuclear Regulatory Commission Document Control Desk Washington, DC 20555 0001 DOCKET 50-155 - LICENSE DPR 6 - BIG ROCK POINT PLANT - WITH0RAWAL OF TECHNICAL SPECIFICATION CHANGE REQUEST DATED APRIL 22, 1997: " TECHNICAL SPECIFICATION CHANGE REQUEST DATED OCTOBER 15, 1996 - SUPPLENENT" Consumers Energy Company notified the Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) by letter dated June 18, 1997, of its intentions to permanently cease operations of the Big Rock Point Nuclear Plant by August 30, 1997. Decommissioning will commence after all the fuel has been removed from the reactor vessel.
i On April 22, 1997, Consumers Energy Company submitted a Technical Specification Change Request with regard to changes involving typographical errors, technical specification / procedure consistency, and the Big Rock Point organization. This change request will no longer be required due to the permanent cessation of plant nperation. Also, Defueled Technical Specifications, which are being prepared for submittal to the NRC during the fourth quarter of 1997, will supersede the current operating technical s)ecifications eliminating the need for this current change request.
Tierefore, the Big Rock Point staff withdraws the Technical Specification Change Request that was forwarded to the NRC for review by letter dated April 22, 1997.
