Questions For Your April 6,1998 Visit
Dear Commissioner Dia7.:
Pursuant to the request of your office, listed below are questions which your office informed FOSM (Friends of a Safe Millstone) we could forward to you for your review and answering during your visit.
FRIENDS OF A SAFE MII.LSTONE (FOSM) and it's mission of a
" safe, financially viable and operating" Millstone Station, has been endorsed by 4,020 members who are all regional residents towards the following goals:
a) to offer an appreciative "thank you" to the Millstone workers for the "
i hard work, dedication and committment to safety; b)
To highlight the critical place Millstone and Northeast Utilities has in the economic and environmental well-being of Connecticut; and c) To provide Millstone with help, support and voices of appropriateness in all public discussions.
The auestions we would like to submit are as follows:
1.
What has the NRC done regarding their oversight of nuclear plants so that other nuclear plants don't end up like Millstone 7 2.

Mllistone workers have worked very hard for the past two years to fix the problems at the station with continual oversight by the NRC; do you think Millstone will soon be ready to operate? '
4.
What--are your impressions of the management at-Millstone as compared to other nuclear plants?
5.
Are all nuclear plants operating with up-to-date Final Safety Analysis Reports (FSARs)?
l 6.
What steps has the NRC taken so that a timely Commission review will occur when Millstone is ready for restart?
Of behalf of the 4,020 members of FRIENDS OF-A SAFE MILLSTONE (FOSM), and the many thousands of citizens of our region, we would like 'to thank the NRC for its diligence q
in protecting the health and safety of families.
j Very truly.yours.
