In September,1997, NSP provided the following commitments:
(1)
Prairie Island plans to complete its USAR Review Project in December of 2001.
(2)
Monticello plans to complete its USAR Review Project in June of 2001.

Prairie Island plans to provide an Improved Technical Specification conversion I
i package submittal to the NRC in October of 1999.

Monticello plans to provide an Improved Technical Specification conversion package submittal to the NRC in June of 2000.

Taraet milestone summary:
Phase I; Draft document completed by 12/31/97 Final document will be completed by 6/30/98 The draft document was 90% complete on 12/31/97. The outstanding items were completed by 1/31/98 There are some punchlist items yet to be resolved for the j
draft document. However, the drafted sections are in review. Reviewers have been assigned. A review form has been prepared along with guidance to the reviewers.
The higher level discrepancies that have been identified have been discussed with the resident inspectors. These discussions will continue throughout the project. One discrepancy was reported per 10CFR50.72, operation outside the design basis. This issue concerned the CVCS Malfunction (inadvertent dilution).
Phase 11 (Verification) will be completed by 12/30/99.
Phase ll Part A (Calculations Review) w;ll be completed by 12/31/01.
Onaoina activ; ties:
The draft document will be reviewed by the project team members and supplemented by system engineers, who have been reassigned to support the review effort. The next milestone is completion of the final document and issuance of a revision to the USAR incorporating the changes. This document will be used in Phase 11, which is verification of plant configuration and procedural guidance against the design basis as stated in the USAR.
Other activities related to the USAR Project:
the team reviewed all of the input items for Revision 14 (50.71e update) the team reviewed all of the input items for Revision 15 developed guidance for making editorial changes to the USAR participated on the NEl Task Force for developing guidance for SAR Updates, NEl 98-03 l

Phase I (Subject Matter Expert Review) will be completed by 9/30/98 Phase il Part A (Comprehensive Review) will be completed by 6/30/00 Phase 11 Part B (Issue Resolution) will be completed by 6/30/01.
Onacina activities:
I USAR issues identified during the review process and daily activities are being documented by condition reports and are being screened, assessed for operability and reportability, and corrective actions are being implemented.
Other activities related to the USAR Project:
The project plan has been approved, and 2 of 3 group procedures have been completed.
Review teams for Phase I have been identified.
The Main Steam system is the pilot effort for Phase I reviews and has been completed.
The project team has been created and consists of three functional areas of responsibility,
- 1) USAR Review Tearn Coordinators who will function as coordinators and reviewers,
- 3) USAR change process coordinator who will assure all USAR changes are made correctly and consistently.
