SUBJECT:
TRANSFER OF LEAD INSPECTION RESPONSIBILITY FOR NON-POWER REACTORS Within the last year, the Comraission approved the consolidation of the Non Power Reactor (NPR) inspection activities under headquarters program management. NRR has now assumed responsibility for all NPR inspection activities from all regions. NRR will provide the technical capability and expertise for background and assistance in any agency response to events at NPR facilities rather than the regions. All other incident response functions will be the same as before.
Our contact will be the project managers in charge of this specific f acility involved if unavailable, the other project managers and NPR inspectors will also be able to respond. I understand you presently have in the operations cen's a list of the project managers for the facilities. The inspectors are Thomas F. Dragoun, loct -d in Region I, Craig H. Bassett, located in Region 11, Thomas M. Burdick, located in Ri in Ill, and Stephen W. Holmes, located in headquarters.
Although we have the lead for the inspection activiti. at NPRs, the Regions acknowledge that they, due to their proximity to the facilities, the8 amergency response capability, and ability to respond quickly, may be called on for assi;tance.
