SUMMARY

OF AUGUST 13, 1997, MEETING REGARDING CALVERT CLIFFS IMPROVED TECHNICAL SPECIFICATIONS On December 4, 1996, Baltimore Gas and Electric Company (BGE), submitted a license amendment request to convert the Calvert Cliffs Nuclear Power Plant, Units 1 and 2 Current Technical Specifications to the Improved Technical Specifications (ITS). On August 13, 1997, the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC Maryland, to di) s cuss clarification of the Calvert Cliffs Technic'aland BGE held a meeting Specifications, Section 3.8, Electrical Systems, their current licensing basis and operational constraints with regard to the loss of offsite power.

Enclosed is a list of meeting attendees.

Three sources of offsite power are available for each Calvort Citffs unit.

Clarification of the Calvert Cliffs electrical systems and what constitutes loss of offsite power was discussed. Calvert Cliffs will clarify the loss of offsite power scenarios in their ITS Bases.

l On June 18, 1997, the NRC received Calvert Cliffs Supplement I to their

) conversion submittal. Supplement 1 included some Calvert Cliffs responses to NRC comments on the ITS conversion submittal. Additional responses on the remaining NRC comments are required in order to continue the review of the ITS. Calvert Cliffs assured NRC that additional responses would be forthcoming in August 1997.
