Dear Mr. Shannon:
Your Quelity Assurance Program Approval No. 0316 is hereby terminated. The Nuclear Regulatory Commission pu)lished a final rule. effective June 27, 1997, revising the requirements of 10 CFR Part 34, ' Licenses for Industrial Radiography and Radiation Safety Requirements for Industrial Radiographic
{ Operations." The revision, which contained numerous changes in the r requirements, also modified the quality assurance (QA) requirements for
- ti ansportation. As a result of these changes, a separate NRC OA program F approval is no longer needed.
i Specificc'ly, transportation activities are now contained in a new paragraph.
L 10 CFR 71,10Mg). This provision was added to the regulations and requires
- k. that inspection and maintenance 3rograms limited to radiographic exposure devices, source changers, or paccages transporting these devices and meeting t.he provisions of 10 CFR Part 34.31(b), or equivalent Agreement State regulatiors, satisfy the general license requirements ,pecified in 10 CFR Part 71.12(b) for Type B transport packages.
