Your Quality Assurance Program A) proval No. 0503'is hereby terminated. The Nuclear Regulatory Commission pu)11shed a final rule, effective June 27.-1997, '
revising the requirements of 10 CFR Part 34. " Licenses for Industrial _
Radiography and Radiation Safety Requirements for Industrial Radiographic Operations." The revision, which contained numerous changes in the requirements, also modified the quality assurance (0A) requirements for transportation. As a result of these changes, a separate NRC OA program approval is no longer needed.
Specifically, transportation activities are now contained in a new paragraph.
-10 CFR 71.101(g). This provision was added to the regulations and requires
'that 1nspection and maintenance )rograms limited to radiographic exposure devices, source changers, or paccages transporting these davices and meeting t
' the provisions'of-10 CFR Part 34.31(b). or equivalent Agreement State regulations. satisfy the general license requirements specified in 10 CFR Part 71.12(b) for Type-B transport packages.
