Dear Mr. Douglas:
I am responding to your May 24, 1991, letter' concerning our ap3roval of a competitors source capsule (RTS Model 796) for use in an Amerslam Model 616 radiographic device. Your latter contained sufficient basis for us to reevaluate the licensing and registration of the RTS Model 796 source capsule.
Based on our review of the information submitted, we did not find a safety basis to rescind the RTS Model 796 sealed source registration. Further, regional review of the service license held by RTS contains no restrictions involving this type of equipment and RTS staff appears to have the necessary training.and experience to perform the service tasks. The registration certificate issued to RTS remains in effect.
