1. PURP.QSE 1.1 - Objective This procedure provides instructions for the replacement of a diesel generator injection nozzle assembly.

1.2 Discussion The diesel generator injection nozzles are enclosed in the injection nozzle compartment and are located symmetrically with one pump and nozzle on each side of each cylinder.

The injection nozzles are the closed, differential, hydraulically ope /ated type. The nozzles use a spring-loaded valve with a seat near the spray orifice to close the orifice after each injection of fuel into the combur. tion chamber. The valve is hydraulically operated by the pressure of the fuel oil being delivered by the injection pump.

1.3 Applicability This procedure applies to the diesel injectar nozzles installed on M8-8

" Emergency Diesel Engine and Ocnerator."
