INTEGRATED MATERIALS PERFORMANCE EVALUATION PROGRAM (IMPEP) REVIEW OF IOWA RADIATION CONTROL PROGRAM This memorandum transmits to the Management Review Board (MRB) a proposed final report 2 (Attachment 1) documenting the IMPEP review of the Iowa Radiation Control Program. The ,

review of the Iowa program was conducted by an interoffice team during the period of j August 17-20,1999. The team issued a draft report to lowa on September 17,1999, for factual l comment. Iowa sent factual comments by letter dated September 24,1999 from Donald A. )

Flater, Chief, Bureau of Radiological Health, Iowa Department of Public Health (Attachment to proposed final report).

Based on the findings, the review team recommends to the MRB that the State be found satisfactory for all six performance indicators. Additionally, the team recommends that lowa's program, as a whole, be considered adequate to protect public health and safety and compatible with NRC's regulatory program.

The MRB meeting to consider the Iowa report is scheduled for Tuesday, November 9,1999 from 2:00 p.m. - 4:00 p.m. In One White Flint North, Room 17-B-4. In accordance with Management Directive 5.6, the meeting is open to the public. The agenda for that meeting is attached (Attachment 2).
