NRC EMERGENCY RESPONSE WORKSHOP

Dear Mr. Dornsife:

NRC invites one member of your staff or other ::ognizant State person to a one day training session on the NRC Emergency Response Data Gystem (ERDS) at the NRC's Region 1 Office on either September 17 or 18. The ERDS la an coline, real time data transmission system for communicating plant systems information from nuclear power plants. This data is available for State decision makers following an emergency classification of Alert or higher and could be used to provide information on plant conditions for early protective actions decisions.

The NRC is in the process of upgrading the ERDS software. This upgrade is available to States and training on both the upgrade and previous version of the software will be offeied during the one day session. The NRC will pay for one State attendee. This person s!nuld have a good technical knowledge of plant parameters and how they affect protective actions as well as the ERDS system. They should also have the ability to take the information back to the State and train other potential ERDS users.
