SUBJECT:

NRC EMERGENCY RESPONSE WORKSHOP

Dear Mr. Sedano:

NRC invites one member of your staff or other cognizant State person to a one day training session on the NRC Emergency Response Data System (ERDS) at the NRC's Region 1 Office on either September 17 or 18. The ERDS is an online, real time data transmission system for communicating plant systems information from nuclear power plants. This data is available for State decision makers following an emergency classification of Alert or higher and could be used to provide information on plant conditions for early protective actions decisions.

The NRC is in the process of upgrading the ERDS software. This upgrade is available to

~ States and training on both the upgrade and previous version of the software will be offered during the one day session. The NRC will pay for one State attendee. This person should have a good technical knowledge of plant parameters and how they affect protective actions as well as the ERDS system. They should also have the ability to take the information back to the State and train other potential ERDS users.

Airline reservations should be made through Carlson Wagonlit Travel at (202) 554-1850.

Please obtain the cost of the airfare, complete the attached registration form and fax to Ms.
