ry -1 Modification (No. 2) to the Statement of Work. Task Order #4, " Phase Separation in Tees."- Contract # NRC-04-97-046. " Thermal-Hydraulic Research" Ext'ension of Period of Performance for Task 7 Task 7. Slug flow

' Additional time and funding are needed to complete Task 7 due to extensive work involved.

i Task 7 consists of three subtasks. Subtask 71(" Test Plan") was completed, while Subtask 7.2 (" Measurements") was only partially completed. As a result, Subtask 7.2 will continue and the remaining experiments will be conducted. Subtask 7.3 (" Preliminary Model Development

/ Selection") will be performed by analyzing the data collected under Subtask 7.2 to develop a liquid entrainment model for horizontal slug flow in a tee. Prepare a letter report in both text and electronic format to present the findings of this task.

Estimated Completion Date: March 31,2000 Estimated Level of Effort: 3 staff months (for completing the remaining work) Additional Work Requirements

        ' Task 8.
. Determine Liquid Entrainment Rate to a Hot Leg Break
'This task performs tests to determine' liquid entrainment mass flow rate to a hot leg break by
-varying two-phase. mixture level in the vessel (that is below the hot leg break) and gas flow rate entering the hot leg. Tests will be conducted under steady-state conditions. Analytical model ,
.or correlations will be developed based on the data obtained for the task. Prepare a letter i report in both text and electronic brmat to present the findings of this task.

Estimated Comoletion Date: June 30,2000  ; Estimated Levt of Effort:: 4 staff months j Task 9. - Determine the Presence of Steam Generator on Phase Separation Process in a Tee To perform this task, a modification to the test facility is required. A simplified steam generator , (SG) will be connected to the right-hand side of the tee on the hot leg, and the other side of the i SG will be connected to a cold leg of the vessel. The task performs tests to determine the phase separation process in the tee with the presence of the SG. Prepare a letter report in

;both text and electronic format to present the test results.

Estimate Comotetion Date: August 31,2000

. Estimated Level of Effort:: 4 staff months jTask 10. Develop instrumentation for Interfacial Area Concentration Measurement in a Tee The task performs a feasibility study on measurement techniques for interfacial area concentration measurement in a tee. Image processing instrumentation will be developed to 1
