SUBJECT:

ENVIRONMENTAL ASSESSMENT AND FINDING OF NO SIGNIFICANT IMPACT RELATED TO ISSUANCE OF A FACILITY OPERATING LICENSE FOR THE MCCLELLAN AFB TRIGA REACTOR (TAC NO. M96343)

Dear General Tattini:

The staff has ' completed its environmental review of the McClellan Air Force uase application for an operating license for its TRIGA reactor. The staff has prepared the enclosed environmental assessment and finding of no significant impact, and notice of issuance of environmental essessment and finding of no significant impact, which is being sent to the Office of the Federal Register for publication.

The staff concludes that there will be no significant environmental impact attributable to the proposed license issuance. Having reached this conclusion, the staff has further concluded that no environmental impact statement for the proposed action need be prepared and that a finding of no significant impact is appropriate.
