SUBJECT:
STATUS REPORT ON EPA'S-ALTERNATE CONCENTRATION O MIT ASSESSMENT AT THE RIVERTON UNTRAP SITE On Wednesday,, September 25, 1985, I discussed the status of EPA's Alternate Concentration Limit (ACL) assessment of the Riverton UMTRAP site with Barry Lester of Geotrans.
Geotrans' preliminary results are summarized in the enclosed status report based on my conversation with-Mr. Lester.
Of the three exposure pathways considered in the assessment Geotrans concluded that direct consumption of contaminated grour.dwater from the shallow aquifer is the most significant pathway.
< The ' preliminary assessments suggest that even this' pathway is not a hazard to human health or the environment.
These conclusions are subject to change after the prime contractor, GCA,
-reviews Geotrans' assesswnts and evaluates potential health effects-of O
contaminatedcurrently behind schedule, so the -- meeting tentatively s groundwater in greater detail.
GCA's ACL assessments are October will be delayed until-late October according to Vern Myers. OSW/ EPA (10/1/85).
EPA. will provide.NRC information co for the first two case studies later this week. pies of draft ACL assessments Please contact me if you have any questions about the enclosed status report.
