Gentlemen:
On April 7,1998, Parsons Power Group Inc. (PPGI) participated in a publicly observed meeting with the U. S. Nuclear Regulatory Comrnissien (NRC) and Northeast Nuclear Energy Company (NNECo). The meeting was held in the training center at the Millstone site. The primary purpose of the meeting was to discuss the status of the Millstone Unit 2 Independent Corrective Action Verification Program (ICAVP).
PPGl presented an overall Unit 2 project summary and provided the status of Tier 1, Tier 2 and Tier 3 activities. Key activities included in the project summary include:
Discovery is complete for the HPSI system with the exception of corrective action closcout, accident re-analysis followup, and Discrepancy Report closcout.
Corrective Action Screening Criteria has been submitted to the NRC for approval 4
Tier 3 EWR review was completed during the past month.
e Schedule for completion of the Unit 2 ICAVP is significantly impacted by the Chapter 14 event re-analysis, corrective actions requiring implementation review, Discrepancy Report backlog and complexity of Corrective Actions and lack of Tier 1 program information (EQ, HELB and SBO).
Enclosure I provides a list of primary participants in the meeting. Enclosure 2 provides the handout used by Parsons during the presentation.
