NRC INSPECTION REPORT 999 90004/97 03 l
Dear Mr. Zorn:
On September 3,1997, the NRC completed an inspection at your facility in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. The inspection included a review of an incident reported to the NRC on -
September 2,1997, involving your purchase of a nuclear moisture / density gauge at a flea market in Grand Prairie, Texas. The enclosed NRC inspection Report 999 90004/97-03 presents the scope and results of that inspection.
The inopection included a review of information provided by you to the NRC Region IV -
office and interviews with members of your staff and others.
Our inspection determined that the nuclear moisture / density gauge you purchased was originally sold to an engineering firm in Dallas, Texas. As discussed with you during the inspection, the gauge was reported stolen from the original owner in November 1996.
Your cooperation in assisting us in returning the gauge to the original owner is appreciated.
This report is being issued to document the efforts taken to identify the origin of.the gauge and to evaluate potential radiation doses which may have been received by individuals who worked in the vicinity of the gauge.
in accordance with 10 CFR 2.790 of the NRC's " Rules of Practice," a copy of this letter will be placed in the NRC Public Document Room (PDR).
