2 quarter of 1997, 1

During the 2" quarter of 1997, GPU Nuclear completed the semi-annual surveillance of the TMI-2 Reactor Building on June 4,1997. No adverse trends of radiological conditions were identified during the inspection. The next inspection of the TMI-2 Reactor Building is scheduled for December,1997.

The Reactor Vessel temperature monitoring system reported the Reactor Vessel temperatures ranged from 46.9 F on April 1,1997 to 68.7 F on June 30,1997. The Reactor Building temperature ranged from 47.9 F on April 1,1997 to 73.4 F on June 30,1997. The largest temperature difference between the Reactor Building and the Reactor Vessel occurred on June 29 and 30,1997, when the Reactor Building temperature was 4.7 F greater than the Reactor Vessel temperature.

d Significant work activities during the 2 quarter of 1997 included completion of surveillance testing of the Reactor Building passive breather system and the performance of routine corrective maintenance of the PDMS Control Room air conditioner. In addition, there were some minor repairs to the annunciator alarm system. Dismantlement of non-radiological equipment continued with the removal of miscellaneous equipment primarily located in the Turbine Building.
