Washington Public Power Supply System (WPPSS Nuclear Project No. 1) Docket No. 50-460-OL Gentlemen:

1 In accordance with the October 14,

1983, Memorandum and Order in the captioned proceeding, the Washington Public Power Supply
System, now conducting business as Energy Northwest, hereby submits its quarterly status report regarding the deferred WNP-1 project.

There has been no change to the status of the WNP-1 project since our July 6, 1999, status report.

As discussed in our last status

report, Energy Northwest is continuing discussions with the State of Washington Energy Facility Site j

Evaluation Council

("EFSEC")

and other parties in interest regarding the future of the WNP-1 site and site remediation j

options.

Energy Northwest is also now evaluating options for 1

termination of the NRC construction permit, operating license i

application, and this proceeding.

Energy Northwest currently expects to move forward on termination of the NRC processes during the final quarter of 1999.
