Gentlemen:

This refers to the maintenance team inspection (MTI) followup inspection

conducted by Messrs. T. O. McKernon and J. E. Whittemore of this office during

the period February 11-15, 1991, of activities authorized by NRC Operating

License NPF-47 for River Bend Station, and to the discussion of our findings

with Mr. P. Graham and other members of your staf f at the conclusion of the

inspection.

Areas examined during the inspection included previously identified weaknesses

and concerns related to the maintenance program. Within these areas, the

inspection consisted of selective examination of procedures and representative

records, interviews with personnel, and observations by the inspectors. The

inspection findings are documented in the enclosed inspection report.

Within the scope of the inspection, no violations or deviations were identified.

However, several of the previously identified weaknesses remain. These

weakresses were outside of regulatory requirements but were presented as

observations of fact in the original maintenance team inspection. The

management response to them appeared to have been varied.
