THEFT OF TEST KITS CONTAINING 10 DINE-125 WHILE IN TRANSIT Cormet Forwarding, Inc. reported to the New Jersey State Police at 11:00 a.m. on August 30, 1978, that a Cormet truck was forceably entered between 12:00 a.m. and 2:00 a.m. on August 30, 1978 in Rochelle Park, New Jersey.
Two packages containing iodine-125 for delivery to Chilton i
Memorial Hospital (LN 29-17874-01) were removed.
One package contained a total of 6 microcuries of iodine-125 in a Thyroxine test kit manufactured by Roche Diagnostics and 28 microcuries of iodine-125 in an Ausria

Hepatitus Antigen test kit manufactured by Abbott Laboratories.
Radiation levels at the surface of the shipping containers are less than 0.5

millirems per. hour.
A possibility that a biological hazard may exist lt..
due to the presence of active hepatitus virus in the one package.

Media interest has been shown. The State of New Jersey and DOT have l
been informed. A press release will be issued by HRC, Region I.
TIRC, Region I, (Philadelphia) received notification of this occurrence by telephone from NRC, Region III following notification by Abbot Labora-l tories at 2:20 p.m. on August 30, 1978.
