August 11, 1978 PRELIMINARY NOTIFICATION OF EVENT OR UNUSUAL OCCURRENCE--PNO-78-143 This preliminary notification constitutes EARLY notice of an event of POSSIBLE safety or public interest significance.
The infornation presented is as initially received without verification or evaluation and is basically all that is known by IE staff on this date.

Subject:
HYDROGEN DELIVERY TRUCK FIRE During the delivery of a truck shipment of hydrogen, a fire started at the delivery truck at 1:05 p.m., on August 11, 1978.
The truck is on the site but outside of the protected area.
The fire was confined to the rear of the truck, and was extinguished at 2:15 p.m.
There was no danger to the plant and there were no injuries. Two cars in the vicinity of the truck were damaged.
63 Hydrogen is used as a cooling medium in the plants' electrical generators.
Both plants are operating at full power.

A press release is planned by the licensee.
