Limerick Generating Station, Units i and 2 Bradshaw Reservoir National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System Permit Changes Gentlemen:
This letter is being submitted in accordance with the Limerick Generating Station (LGS), Units 1 and 2, Environmental Protection Plan (EPP) Section 3.2, which stipulates that the NRC shall be notified within 30 days following the date of approval of a change to the National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System (NPDES).
By letter dated August 18,1997, the Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection (PA DEP) approved changes to the NPDES permit for the Bradshaw Reservoir (Permit No. PA0052221) authorizing the use of hydrogen peroxide to augment the ozone disinfection system at the reservoir facility. The Bradshaw Reservoir is used in support of the operation of LGS, Unito 1 and 2, A copy of the PA DEP letter approving this permit change is attached.
Section 3.2 of the LGS EPP also requires that the NRC be provided a copy of proposed changes to the effective NPDES permit (s) at the same time the proposed changes are submitted to the permitting agency. PECO Energy requested the changes to the Bradshaw Reservoir NPDES permlt to utilize the hydrogen peroxide by letter dated July 31,1997. However, the NRC was inadvertently omitted from the distribution for this notification. We apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused.
