- Gentlemen:
i l
Special Report Limiting Condition for Operation-(LCO) 3.7.9 of the Trojan Tech-nical Specifications requires the submittal of a Special Report'-
if a'3-hour fire barrier is nonfunctional for greater than seven days.
On June 2, 1987, doors number 52 and 53 were determined to be nonfunctional for greater than seven days.
During a routine inspection, doors 52 and 53, which separate the
'A' Electrical Auxiliary Room from the
'B' Electrical Switch -
gear and Auxiliary Room in the Control Building, were discovered to have metal panels welded to both sides of each door.
The welding of these metal panels to the doors deviates from the Underwriters Laboratory (UL) listing.
Since it is not known exactly when these doors became non-functional, it is assumed they were nonfunctional-for greater than seven days.
Compensatory measures described in-Technical' Specification 3.7.9 were fulfilled (hourly fire patrol established and verification of smoke detector operability) on June 2, 1987.
The estimated completion date for repair and return to service is October 1, 1987.
Sincerely, k kW C. A Olmstead General Manager CAO/RPS/fWS/BLK:sg
