1.1 Oldeclive This procedure provides instructions for ensuring the OPERAHILITY of the U-TEK-TOR Fire Detection System used in the Station Battery Rooms and in the Gas 1brbine Building.
This procedure satisfies Technical Requirements Manual, OPS Form 273-7.2, Fire Protection 1bchnical Requirements Section 4.1.El .. d 2 for the Station Hattery Rooms. The Gas 1brbine Building U-TEK-TOR fire detection system is not covered by the 1bchnical Requirements Manual or Technical Specifications.
1.2 Discussion The U-TEK-TOR system is a closed circuit detection system. The system consists of normally closed circuits that produce an alarm situation should one of the circuits open. The two normally closed circuits comprise a zone alarm pair. One circuit of the pair is of cutectic wire and causes an open circuit in the event of excessive heat. The other circuit is of ordinary wire and is the supervisory circuit, o Through the use of test switches on the U-TEK-TOR panels, test U signals are input to the alarm logic circuitry to simulate trouble and fire alarm conditions. OPERAlllLITY of the fire detection system is confirmed via alarms and lights on the local panel and annunciation lights on the Control Room panel.
The U-TEK-TOR cabinet for the Station Battery Room is located on the outside wall near the entrance to the Station Battery Rooms. The Gas 1btbine Building U-TEK-TOR cabinet is located on the outside of the west wall of the building near the htdiding entrance. All switches and lamps are on inside panel unless otherwise noted.

NOTE The Station llattery Room U-TEK-TOR cabinet breaker is located on the 34' 6" elevation of the 'Ibrtiine lluilding on the north wall near bus 14C.

- UP-lli circuit number 6 (110-volt " Normal" power supply)
- UP-lll circuit number 4 (110-volt " Normal / Emergency" power supply) 4.1.4 ENSURE all switches are in " NORMAL" (up) position.
4.1.5 ENSURE the following are indicating correctly on outside panel of U-TEK-TOR box:
- Green " NORMAL POWER" lamp is lit.
- All other lamps are not lit. !
- All alarms are not actuated.
