OPEN ITEM ASSOCIATED WITH CHAPTER 19 720.465F The following concems Direct Containment Heating (DCH):

(a)

The text of PRA Appendix B indicates that the Westinghouse calculation conservatively assumed that 90 percent of the Zr was unoxidized, but Table B-2 shows 50 percent.

(b)

Table B-2 indicates that the temperature of ejected core debris was assumed to be 2478 K, which is about 300 K lower than the value used in the Nuclear Regulatory Commission DCH calculations (2800 K) found in NUREG/CR-6338.

Westinghouse needs to confirm which oxidation was used and correct the Table or text in Appendix B as applicable. In addition, Westinghouse needs to assess the impact on the peak pressure of using an oxidation fraction and debris temperature consistent with the NRC calculations found in NUREG/C'M?).
