PROPOSED IMPOSITION OF CIVIL PENALTY - $25,000 By EN 87-44A dated June 11, 1987 the Commission was informed that a hold was placed on a Notice of Violation and Proposed Imposition of Civil Penalty based on newly developed information regarding the inoperable pressurizer code safety valve. A meeting was held with the licensee on June 19, 1987 and subsequently the staff has decided to proceed with issuance of the Notice of Violation and l
Proposed Imposition of Civil Penalty in the amount of $25,000. This enforce-ment action will be issued today to Arkansas Power and Light Company.
It should be noted that the licensee has not been specifically informed of the enforcement action. The Regional Administrator has been authorized by the Deputy Executive Director for Regional Operations to sign this action. The schedule of issuance and notification is:
Mailing of Notice June 25, 1987 Telephone Notification of Licensee June 25, 1987 A news release has been prepared and will be issued after the licensee receives the Notice. The State of Arkansas will be notified.
The licensee has thirty days from the date of the Notice in which to respond.
Following NRC evaluation of the response, the civil penalty may be remitted, mitigated, or imposed by Order.
