I As you are aware, the assets of CTI have been sold to ASCG Inspection, l Inc. During the negotiation stages of the sale, it was decided not to i include any of the byproduct materials covered by CTI's gauge license. l CTI has sold or disposed any of the byproducts listed on the license in j their possession and would like to terminate License 50-19202-02. l The only items CTI had in their possession that fell under license number ! 50-19202-02 was two Troxler Soil Density Meters and a CPN Moisture l Depth Gauge. See attached information for specific disposal / transfer of

On January 16. 1996, the Nuclear Regulatory Connission (NRC) amended its regulations in 10 CFR 30, 40,
and 70 to extend the expiration date of certain byproduct, source, and special nuclear material licenses
by five years (6L FR 1109). The atove referenced license was extended by this rulecating and will now
expire on September 30, 2003.' Your license will not be amended to show this extended date until the next
routine licensing action, juntil then, you may provide copies of this letter to vendors and other
interested parties as evidence that the license has been extended as a result of the rule,

The extended license authorizes tne same activities and contains the same limitations as it previously
did. There will be no change In the frequency that the NRC inspects activities authorized by this
license. .
The amer.ded rule: state that in the case of licensees who are granted extensions and who have a currently
pending renewal application for that extended license, the application will be (.onsidered withdrawn by
the licensee and any renewal fees paid by the licensee for that application will be refunded. This will
apply to licenses with expiration dates after July 1.1995. for which renewal applications and the
appropriate fees have been submitted and the renewal is still pending. Refunds will be mailed to
licensees uncer separate cover.
All licensees, ircludirg those whose renewal applications were withdrawn by this rulemaking. who wish to
change their radiation safety programs must request a:nendment of their licenses to reflect these
changes. Arendmet requests must include the correct amendment fee since the NRC cannot apply pending
renewal refund balances toward amend:ient fees.

removed from service and decentaminated, repaired, or disposed of in !
accorpance with Comission regulations. A report shall be filed within 5 days lil
of the date the leak test result is known with the U. S. Nuclear Regulatory
Comi:Esion, Region V, Radioactive Materials Safety Branch,1450 Maria Lane, Jll

Since my appointment as RSO for CTl Alaska, Inc., I have had the
chance to do a thorough review of the changes to part 34, our gauge l
license, our radiography license, our Radiation Safety Manual (O&E
manual) NUREG-1556 Vol.1 and NUREG-1556 Vol. 2.
To complete the revisions to both licenses, and our Radiation Safety
Manual may take until April 18to complete.
I have completed Troxlers " Portable gauge manufacturers course for
users" (see attached Certificate). And as stated in the letter dated
October 28,1997, I have completed a course for Radiation Safety ,
Officers, but have not received the certificate. l
