The Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC), as part of its responsibility of regulating nuclear power plants, periodically evaluates the performance of its licensees through a program called the Systematic Assessment of Licensee Performance (SALP). Through this program, we review and evaluate our licensees
- performance in the four major categories of:
Plant Operations, Maintenance, Engineering, and Plant Support.
The Plant Support category includes an assessment of licensee performance with regard to emergency preparedness.
On April 21, 1998, representatives of the NRC will meet with the management of the Tennessee Valley Authority to discuss the Sequoyah Nuclear Power Plant's performance over the past 18 months.
You are invited to attend this meeting as an observer.
Subsequent to this meeting, we have scheduled time to meet with you, and other members of your staff as you deem appropriate, to discuss matters of mutual iriterest with regard to the regulation and performance of Sequoyah.
This SALP meeting is scheduled to be conducted at 11:00 a.m. at the Sequoyah Nuclear Plant Training Center at Igou Ferry Road, Soddy-Daisy Tennessee.
The pro)osed meeting with you and other local and State officials will be conducted at the Sequoyal Nuclear Plant Training Center shortly after the conclusion of the SALP.
Your schedule permitting, we look forward to meeting with you at that time.
