SUBJECT: NRC INSPECTION REPORT 50 482/97 12
Dear Mr. Maynard:
An NRC inspection was conducted August 11-15,1997, at your Wolf Creek Generating
Station reactor facility. The enclosed report presents the scope and results of that
inspection.
The purpose of this inspection was primarily to evaluate the effectiveness of the licensed
operator requalification program. It also involved limited observations of control room
performance. Overall, the licensed operator requalification training program effectively
implemented a systems approach to training and maintained the condition of operators'
licenses. However, a number of simulator scenarios in the requalification scenario bank,
while acceptable overall, had limited discriminating value for the senior operator position,
in accordance with 10 CFR 2.790 of the NRC's " Rules of Practice," a copy of this letter
and its enclosure will be placed in the NRC Public Document Room (PDR),
