SUBJECT: NRC INSPECTION REPORT 50-483/97 13
Dear Mr. Randolph:
An NRC inspection was conducted August 11-15, 1997, at your Callaway Plant reactor
f acility. The enclosed report presents the scope and results of that inspection.
The inspection included implementation of your emergency plan and procedures during
your biennial emergency preparedness exercise. Overall, the performance during the
exercise was satisfactory; however, two exercise weaknesses were identified. The
exercise weaknesses pertained to programmatic problems that resulted in untimely offsite
agency notifications and ineffective technical support center access controls. The exercise
weaknesses are discussed in Sections P4.2 and P4.3, respectively, of the enclosed
inspection report.
Exercise weaknesses, according to 10 CFR Part 50, Appendix E.IV.F.2.g, are inspection
findings that need to be enrrected by the licensee. Therefore, you are requested to provide
this office with a description of your corrective measures and your schedule for completing
these actions within 30 days after receipt of this letter,
