1.
This source described in your memorandum is approximately 14 millicurien (re: activity) and under the revised Part 35 would be considered an unlisted calibration or check source.
Therefore, there will be no need to list such sources separately on a license if the State has adopted the revised Part 35.
2.
With the proper review, approval and instructions to

s PROCEDURE FOR INSTALLING A LOW ENCRGY BEALED SOURC3 INTO THE EKG CleIP HOLDER - PART # 800023 Scin icor Incorporated recommando using the Amersham Americium-241 point source CAT # AMC.24. However, a low energy source with an energy level of between 60 kev and 25 kev with dimensions of 3.0mm diam. and 8.0 - 10.0mm length, and anergy characteristics similnr to Iodine-125 or Americium-241 would be an acceptable alternative.
- 1) Clean the bicite ring (attached to the EKG clip) with alcohol.
- 2) Using tongo or forceps, clean the point source with alcohol and identify the window of your source.
- The window of the point source can be identifiod either visually or through detection.

- If you can not di-kinguish the proper end visually, measure both onds of the ecurce by either uning the SIM 400 (in the static modo) or a survey meter. Place the cylinder (long axis) of the source perpendicular to the detector face, and maintain several inches neparation between the source and the collimator surface. The highest reading indicates the " window end" or the surface.
Caution: Be certain of source window prior to epoxing.
- 3) Thoroughly mix a commercially available epoxy. Apply the opoxy to the inside surfaces of the lucite ring. Insert the source so the window is facing the collimator when the EKG clip is attached to an electrode on a patient's chest. Allow for the manufacturer's recommendation on epoxy drying-time before using, c
