Enclosed is an application for an export license (XSNM03033), recently received by the Nuclear Regulatory Commission, for the export of natural and low-enriched uranium, in the form of fabricated BWR bundles, to Taiwan as reload fuelin the Chinshan I and 11 reactors.

Assurances from Taiwan are required that the material will be subject to all of the terms and conditions of an agreement for cooperation. Your assistance in obtaining the necessary assurances will be appreciated.

Dear Ms. Wright:

The attached is General Electric Company's criginal NRC License application for 68,000 Kgs Uranium Dioxide (UO2) ranging from natural up to a maximum of 5.0% enrichment, 60,000 Kgs Uranium, 3000 Kgs U-235 to be exported as fuel assemblies with ultimate end use being reload fuel for Chinshan Nuclear Power Plant, Units I & II.

Enclosed is General Electric Company's check # 0013209195 in the amount of $2,900.00 payable to the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission for the processing of this license application as required by law.

This NRC export license is required for bidding purposes to cover two more reloads as an extension to our current contract and will become effective only when a firm order is in place with Taiwan Power Company. GE Nuclear Energy must provide this license to Taiwan Power Company in order that our bidding will be accepted by the end of May 1998.

Your prompt response, therefore, is requested. Thank you for your attention in this matter.
