Dear Mr. Parechanian:

- Your Quality Assurance Program A> proval No. 0168 is hereby terminated. The Nuclear Regulatory Commission pualished.a final rule, effective June 27. 1997.
revising the requirements of 10 CFR Part 34. " Licenses for-Industrial i Radiography and Radiation Safety Requirements for Industrial Radiographic Operations." The revision, which contained numerous changes'in the requirements, also modified the quality assurance-(0A) requirements for transportation. As a result of these changes, a separate NRC QA program 1pproval is no-longer needed.
Specifically, transportation activities- are now contained in a new paragraph.
.10 CFR 71.101(g). This provision was added.to the regulations and requires that inspection and maintenance 3rograms limited-to radiographic exposure devices, source changers. or paccages transporting these devices and meeting
' the provisions of-10 CFR Part 34.31(b). or equivalent Agreement State -
regulations. satisfy the general _ license requirements specified in 10 CFR Part 71.12(b) for Type B transpo'rt packages, '
