Babylon, N.Y. 11702 ,

Dear Mr. Barbash:

This is in response to your letter of April 29, 1987 concerning 'an opportunity for holding limited appearance sessions in conjunction with the hearing on the adequacy of the reception centers. Your prior letter en the subject was not answered because it appeared that your organization only wanted to make a statement of position on the subject for which no response is necessary.  ;

, You may wish to know that the Board has decided not to hold further limited appearance sessions in conjunction with the hearing. ' As you are aware, we held extensive sessions last fall in Suffolk and Nassau Counties. They included both. day and evening sessions. In addition to the very many people testifying orally, we also received large numbers of written submissions of testimony. Testimony was given on all issues in the proceeding.

The limited appearance sessions provided the Board with a clear understanding of the views of the people and organizations on the matters at issue. .With the record made, we do not see that further sessions are warranted or that they will be productive. That is the Board's position on the subject.

Very truly yours, I

i Morton B. Margulies, Chairman Administrative Law Judge l
