Dear Dr. Locke:
This lett.er confirms the outcome of the October 22, 1986 discussion held between Dr. Harold Rosson, University of Kansas, and Mr. John Dosa of NRR, USNRC Headquarters, and a subsequent discussion between Dr. Rosson and Mr.
Russell Wise, USNRC, Region IV, held on October 22, 1986.
It is my understanding that the University of Kansas is taking the following actions:
1.
Further dismantling and decommissioning of the University of Kansas reactor will crase until the issue of a plan and procedures for these activities has been resolved between the University of Kansas and NRR.
2.
Until you are notified by Region IV to proceed with disposal, the reactor components which have been disassembled and packaged for shipment to a waste burial facility will be maintained in the reactor facility.
If your understanding differs from this, please notify me immediately.
