- Byron' Station Unit 2 Inservice Inspection Prograai NRC Docket No. 50-455 4
Reference:
- (a) January 21, 1987 letter from S.C. Hunsader to H.R. Denton
'Gentlesen:
l Reference (a) stated Comunonwealth Edison would provide a
. description of the Inservice Inspection (ISI) Program for Byron Unit i
2 by May 6,.1987.
This letter describes the Unit 2 ISI Program and outlines the differences between the Byron Unit 1 and Unit 2
-programs. Attachment A contains a brief summary, by section, of the anticipated changes to the ISI Program to incorporate inspection requirements for Byron Unit.2.
4 Although the coausercial operation date of Unit 2 would dictate use of the 1983 Edition of.the ASME Code, it is hereby requested that the 1980 Edition with Addenda through Winter 1981 Addenda be applied to Byron Unit 2.
The inspection requirements of the 1980 Edition with Addenda through Winter 1981 Addenda only
[
differ slightly from the inspection requirements of the 1983 Edition. Use of the same Edition of the~ASME Code as.is being used for Byron Unit I will make implementation of the Unit 2 program much
].
easier froni an administrative standpoint. With respect to inuervice inspection requirements, the-design of Unit 2 is nearly identical to j-Unit-1. For these reasons, we wish to maintain a consistent 1
inspection program for Units 1 and 2.
f We expect.to include the Unit 2 inspection requirements in l
the next revision of the ISI Program Plan. 'Our current schedule is to complete this revision to the program in November, 1987.
Please' direct any questions regarding this matter to this b
