TO ADORESSEE: See attached list On Friday, April 24, 1987, the NRC staff will be holding a public meeting in room 106 of the W111ste Building to review its resolution of public comments on the Generic Technical Positions entitled Qualification of Existing Data for High-Level Nuclear Waste Repositories and Peer Review for High-Level Nuclear j'
Waste Repositories. Both of these positions were noticed in the Federal Register for public comment in July 1986. A number of comments were received on each position and the staff has prepared the attached comment resolution documents and draft final positions addressing them. The staff intends to discuss the major issues raised in the public comments and the final positions currently contemplated for the GTP's, and to obtain feedback from members of the States and Tribes or DOE on the resolution of comments.
Revisions may be made to the final positions based on comments received during this meeting.
Although the pubite is invited to formally review and comment on NRC staff GTP's, normally the staff would resolve these comments without additional i
interactions. This meeting is being held as a result of a request from the one of the affected Indian Tribes.
