'j AIR. ACCUMULATORS FORLCONTROL VALVES SD%R: -CP-87-15.(INTERIM REPORT) i Gentlemen:.
On May 20,.1987, we verbally notified your Mr. I. Barnes of a deficiency.
1 involving.the air accumulators for air operated' control valves. This is an interim report-of a potentially reportable item under the provisions of 10CFR50.55(e).
Spec.ifically, 22 air. accumulators for air operated control valves have been reviewed as a result of installation deficiencies and the lack of removal of
. desiccant'from the accumulator tanks.
The installation documents for these accumulators have not been located.
Several accumulators in both Units 1 & 2 have been found to contain desiccant although the installations were completed. Also, nonconformance reports have been issued to document these i
conditions.
Our evaluat' ion of these conditions is scheduled to be completed by July 15, l
1987.
Our next report on this issue will be submitted no later than August 22, 1987.
Very truly yours, f?&C W. G. Counsil l
