In your March 2, 1987 letter you requested General Electric Company's Nuclear Fuel and Components Manuf acturing (NF& CM) to provide an assessment of controls which prevent or detect i
hydrocarbons from being introduced into UF6 cylinders and systems during processing and transport.
You allowed 45 days from the date of your letter for us to respond.
NF&CM has begun scheduling the work associated with your request.
We find that in order to conduct a comprehensive assessment, including internal management review, and possibly a license and demonstration amendment, the projected time involved will extend into the month of June.
We therefore request that NF&CM be granted permission to submit our assessment and, if necessary, our license amendment
]
application by June 30, 1987.
