Dear Mr. Keppler:
This Special Report is being submitted in accordance with Technical Specifications 3.7.7.a and 6.6.c. and the C. V. Schroeder to J. G. Keppler letter dated February 9, 1984, regarding the LaSalle Unit 2 drywell temperature.
On September 26, 1986, with Unit 2 operating at 76 percent power, the Operating Department started the "2B" chiller and then shutdown the "2A" chiller. Temperature sensor 2TE-VP215 stabilized out about 153' F and sensor 2TB-VP205 reached 150' F.
Both sensors are in the vicinity of SRV's F. K S,
I M and SRV's A, H respectively. Since the observed temperature is well below
' the temperature of 170 degrees F for which the remaining qualified life is calculated, no negative impact on equipment operability will occur as a result of this high temperature.
t These temperatures are consistent with those seen in the past as documented in l
Special Reports dated November 18, 1985, and January 8, 1986.
Temperatures will continue to be monitored weekly in accordance with Station Procedures.
