ROREM/ARCHAMBEAULT CO'NTENTION TESTIMONY OF LARRY BOSSONG a

Q.l.

Please state your name, employer and position.

A.l.

My name is Larry Bossong.

I am currently employed by GE-MCIS as a Level ~II QC inspector.

In addition, I serve as the first shift steward for Union Local

  1. 306 at Braidwood.

Q.2.

Have you testified previously in this proceeding?

A.2.

Yes.

Q.3.

khat is the purpose of your testimony?

A.3.

The purpose of my testimony is to relate what I communicated to Mr. Archambeault about his likely job assignment at Comstock when he hired on with BESTCo in January, 1986.

O Q.4.

Why did you have occasion to communicate with Mr.

Archambeault about his assignment?

A.4.

In my capacity as first shift steward for Local No. 306, I am responsible for signing on new hires as union members.

Local No. 306 represents all

/

of the QC inspectors used by Comstock and they must join the union as a condition of employment.

Mr. Archambeault was a new employee and a new union member.

It was my responsibility to meet with him and brief him about fringe benefits, hours of work and other job related matters.

One of the forms that must be filled out at this time is a work referral slip.

The slip is a union record that contains information about the new hire, including salary and social security number.

Q.5.

Do you recall filling out Mr. Archambeault's work referral slip?

A.S.

Yes.

It is attached to my testimony as Bossong-1.

Q.6.

What does the notation "possible second shift" on Bossong-1 mean?

A.6.

I made the notation to indicate that Mr. Archambeault might be assigned to second shift by Comstock.

o Q.7.

What was your basis for making that notation?

A.7.

At the time Archambeault was hired most new electrical QC inspectors like him were being certified by Comstock in both terminations and cable pulling.

Inspectors in terminations were working first shift and cable pulling inspectors were working second shift.

However, I had no way of knowing where new inspectors would be assigned by Comstock.

It was for this reason that I marked Archambeault's work referral slip as possibly working second shift.

I routinely did this for all new hires, because Comstock was running a multi-shift operation.

Q.8.

Mr. Archambeault has testified that you promised him he would be able to work first shift.

Is this true?

-I am quite certa'n I made no such promise to A.8.

No.

i him.

Q.9.

Mr. Archambeault has also testified you promised him that after he was trained in cable pulling on second shift, he would be transferred to first shift fof training in terminations.

Is this true?

A.9.

No.

I did not make such a promise.
