The information presented is as initially received without verification or evaluation and is basically all that is known by the Region V staff on this date.

AREA ARRESTS FOR SALE OF DRUGS As the result of an extensive tri-county wide drug investigation, on June 16, 1987, the Sacramento (City / County) Narcotics Task Force arrested 6 persons involved in the possession, sale, and use of cocaine. Two of the persons arrested are employed by the licensee at Rancho Seco as follows: one utility clerk and one utility helper. The licensee reported neither employee had been previously involved in safety related work, and that none of the reported drug transactions for these two employees took place inside the protected area. Beginning at 7:00 AM, PDT, June 17, 1987, the licensee began interviewing thirteen other Rancho Seco employees concerning their possible past involvement with drugs. These interviews were also based upon information previously obtained by members of the Task Force. As a result of these interviews, additional interviews and/or arrests could be made.
Rancho Seco has been in a cold shutdown since December 16, 1985.
The licensee has issued a news release. Region V received initial notification of the pending arrests fron the licensee on June 12, 1987.
