. OPERATIONS SUPMARY SEPTEMBER, 1986 The unit entered September at 100% Reactor power producing approximately 830 MWe gross electrical generation. On September 13, 1986 at 0800 hours0.00926 days
0.222 hours
0.00132 weeks
3.044e-4 months
Reactor power was reduced to 60%. The APSRs (axial power shaping rods) were removed from the core to provide extended core life.

On the return power escalation Turbine Valve Testing was successfully completed at 85% Reactor power. On September 14,1986 at 0200 Reactor power was returned to 100% The plant then continued to operate at 100% power the remainder of the month.

MAJOR SAFETY RELATED MAINTENANCE During the month of September, THI-1 performed the following major maintenance:

Air Handling System Purge Valve AH-V-1B - During preparation for ES testing it was discovered AH-Y-1B would not stroke.

Investigation revealed damage to the motor operator pinion gear and shaf t clutch gear.

The gears were replaced and the valve satisfactorily tested.

Testing included Local Leak Rate Test (LLRT), stroke test, and 30* open checks. All work is complete.
